Category: Engineering/Manufacturing We are currently looking for an electrical engineer with experience in the design & support of electronics in the following areas: Micro-controller and peripheral hardware design. Understanding of low level micro-controller firmware to allow at least minimal support to Software Engineering for system algorithms and early iteration micro-controller debug and software development. Analog signal manipulation i.e. filtering, amplifying and converting. DC & Step motor control and drive specification and design. Temperature drive, measurement and control. Pressure measurement and control. Transducer and sensor interfacing. Communications protocols including RS-232, RS-485, I2C, CAN, USB and Ethernet. DC-DC power converter selection and evaluation criteria. Failure mode and/or fault tree analysis. Wire, cable and interconnect specification and drawings. System routing of cable assemblies. Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) design, programming & evaluation. Ability to test and debug/troubleshoot new electronic assemblies as well as legacy designs whose documentation is limited and/or inaccurate. Develop rework schemes if required. Assembly and sub-assembly test criteria and methods. Assist manufacturing with pre-production builds and transfer of design to product manufacturing. Regulatory agency requirements and protocols. Ability to identify and address regulatory issues (EMC, Safety). Create system, sub-assembly, assembly and/or component verification plans and reports. Familiarity specifying/sourcing/configuring, evaluation and integration of: Single Board Computer and peripherals. Universal input AC to DC power supply. Laboratory and test equipment. System fluids level, proximity, pressure, intensity & temperature transducers. Experience in some or all of the following areas: Schematic tool and netlist experience, preferably Orcad Schematic Capture. SMT circuit board layout experience, preferably the Cadence Allegro package. Alternatively, we have access to the PADs layout tool. Should be able to complete or direct completion of a board layout. Board fabrication and assembly control files. 2-D CAD package experience for making assembly, fab and part drawings. PC application software including: Excel for assembly Bills of Material, Word for functional and design specifications, circuit analysis/simulation, Power Point, LabVIEW, Windows. Assist purchasing with sourcing obsolete/long lead time components and/or identify/evaluate a replacement. Evaluate customer provided prototype, benchmarking performance and manufacturing viability.
